Curlew Calling Cover

Now on Sale – Curlew Calling – An Anthology of Poetry, Nature-Writing and Images in Celebration of Curlew edited by Karen Lloyd. With a foreward by Mark Cocker, eminent writer on birds and the natural world and contributions from Gillian Clarke, former Welsh Laureate, Scottish nature writer Jim Crumley, Neil Ansell and a host of remarkable writers.

The curlew is one of the most iconic birds of the British countryside, over-wintering on coastal margins and travelling inland to their traditional summer breeding grounds; the cry of the curlew is one of the most emblematic symbols of wild places. But curlew numbers are plummeting due to a host of threats to their breeding grounds – not least of which is the over-intensification of agricultural lands.

This anthology has been produced as a means of raising money to support direct action for curlew conservation – the BTO Curlew Appeal and others. Buy purchasing a copy you will be contributing directly to this direct action.
